Up for sale is a Yaesu FT-70G HF Portable Transceiver. The FT-70 series HF field portable manpack transceivers are designed to provide reliable,convenient medium range communications under rugged field conditions. The frequency synthesized all solid state circuitry and die-cast anodized aluminum front panel and battery pack make a highly portable, semi-weatherproof station weighing less than 15 pounds, providing up to ten watts of multi-mode transmitter output power (5 watts on AM) between 2-30 MHz and reception down to 500 kHz. I understand that there is a modification to extend the transmit portion to 160 meters but I have not done this. As a matter of fact I have never had the unit out of it's case.

Flexible operation for optimum communications under a wide range of propagation conditions are assured by SSB (USB or LSB), semi break-in CW, and AM modes, selectable from the front panel along with high/low power selections and all-mode receiver squelch. Convenient operation is further facilitated by an operator-switchable noise blanker, multi-function meter (showing receive signal strength, relative transmit power or battery/supply voltage), and receiver offset (clarifier) control. A transmitter tune switch is provided to simplify tuning of the FC-70M wideband (1.6 to 30 mHz) manual antenna tuner.

I know that this unit has the optional LSB filter in it as I have used it on 80 and 40 meters. The attached battery pack (FB-70 Ni-Cd battery pack) has been charged but is now depleted and I do not have access to a Ni-Cd charger anymore. It is an A-1 unit but as with all electronics equipment there is no gaurantee. Check my feedback as I have 100% and all of my customers and clients have been happy with my transactions. Also, I post 100% feedback unlike a lot of sellers.

This unit comes with the CSC-70 Backpack, FNB-70 Ni-Cd Battery Pack, FC-70M Antenna Tuner, MH-17A8 Speaker-Microphone, Maintenance and Operating manuals, and wiring accesories. As you can see in the photographs this unit is in mint shape. I purchased this unit years ago new and still in the export shipping packs. I was going to use it to backpack camp but due to back and neck injuries I am not able to do so. I have only used the unit for just "Hamming" around in the backyard and such. I do not have ten hours total on the unit. This unit has been stored in my office only to be taken out when used. It has never been exposed to weather and I am a non-smoker. I have not attached the mike hanger to the case and as you can see (in one of the pictures) it is still in the wrapper next to the power cord and microphone.

I have also added a picture of me (a true HAM what) using this rig on the 29th of June to talk to a HAM in Oklahoma and also to check into the South Cars Net on 7.2510 MHz. I was using a 30' piece of aluminum clothes line approximately 20' off of the ground for an antenna and used the accessory power cord to run off of my car battery. This will make a great field day unit or for emergencies where there is a power outage. You can still stay on the air during these "brown outs" this summer.
